Last week iKwiz broke the story about the 2016 Gareth Edwards Star Wars movie, featuring both Boba Fett and Han Solo. Since then, we've been choping at the bit to get more from our source. Well it happened. Nothing like a party environment and a couple of drinks to help the cause. I think my constant nagging - along with the support of a small audience - may have played a part in my quest. So, it wasn't long before I heard the words I needed to hear, "I guess this one thing is not a big deal..." Bingo!
“Boba Fett is a mantle. The name, the ship and the armor gets passed down to a successor. That's how he is brought back for the films and explains the character for later stories.”
This brings up a couple of very important questions, which I asked, but recieved no reply: Who was in the armor when Boba Fett fell into the Sarlacc Pit? Does "later stories" mean post ROTJ? If so, does that mean that we will see the bounty hunter return in Star Wars: The Force Awakens? He goes on to say,
“Fett fans are in for a few surprises. They [Disney] get the cult status of the character, so you're going to see more Boba Fett in the future.”
He pretty much clammed up after that but not before saying one last thing...
"Michael Fassbender is the frontrunner to be Boba Fett, fact!"
So at this point we know that there is talk about bringing Kate Mara in for a major role in the 2016 Standalone and Aaron Paul is rumored to be Han Solo. We hope to bring you more casting news soon, but until then... May the Force be with you!
